Early morning 7:45, the garden of Yak
and Yeti was full with smartians who were excited for the session finale.402nd
session of Smart Club on 2014-03-08
Saturday was special for two reasons.One it was the grand finale and second
was-this day was the last day of this club in the PIC hall of the World Bank.
As it was the month of philosophy, the topics were also exciting. The instant
excitement could be seen in the face of the people who were desperately waiting
for session to start. We entered the
premise of yak and yeti at 7:55 am and our regular session started at 8:10 am
which was quite late.
Coordinator Mr.Prabhat Guragain
approached the audience in a humorous way. He gave a general introduction about
smart club so that new comers can have an idea on what smart club is all about.
Then the introduction round started and the entire juvenescent member gave their introduction so that the
people can know each other and build their own social network.
After completing introduction round
coordinator call out the name of the role takers and called pre decided speaker
Sofiya khan immediately. Miss sofiya Hayat Khan the winner of 398th session who
seems confident and fluent gave a speech on the topic of” Is madness divinest
sense”? She had good understanding of English literature. The sentences, the
choice of words were quite mesmerizing. The key points of her speech were
“Madness and mental disorder are two
different things”
“Whatever we do is the act of madness.”
“Life is fun if you move away from your
comfort zone and do small act of madness.”
“Being mad about something is being
unique.”
“Patriotism, love, optimism, poetry
etc. everything is madness”.
“Madness is a unique melody which we
all should sing to make a song of the life more interesting and make each
moment turn to out to be great memories.”
After the completion of speech,
question/answer round started. Miss.Sofiya seems more confident and gave a
justifiable answer. She well tackled the entire question raised by audience.
After that it was the turn of second
pre decided speaker who was Mansih khatiwada who was the winner of 399th
session and spoke on the topic “Altruist: The Recurring Dream”. He has been
known for the speaker who speaks from his heart. Lot of things can be learnt from his speech
as well. Key points of his speech were
“Every people are selfish on their own
way. He gave an example where he had a discussion with his mother about why
people are selfish. His mother said “Altruists are also selfish because they
expect other to see smile in their faces.”
“God gave us life and god expects us to
become an altruist.”
“Altruist people can be counted on
hands since they are very less.”
“There are billionaires who are often
confused on where to spend their money and there are poor people who often
struggle to feed a meal for their family.”
“We have capitalism but no humanism.”
After that marvelous speech, we went to
question/answer round and Mr.Khatiwada well talked all the questions with relevant
examples which audience could easily relate.
Now it was the turn of 3rd PDS who is
an example of hard work, commitment and dedication and he was not other than
Mr.Vishnu Bahadur Rokaya the winner of 401st session. His topic was “Power of
logic”. He gave a speech in a full confident way. Key points of his speech are
mentioned below:
“Logic exist everywhere and always no
matter wherever people are.”
“We can make people believe on our
statements and can get their acceptance through logic.”
“ Successful people are always logical
minded.”
Exemplifying his statements he pointed
towards election where leaders try to
convince voters through logic and win the election. Further he mentioned:
newspaper and other media lines are so strong due to their powerful logic. So if people want to be
successful in life, logic plays vital role and all must learn and apply logic.
After that we went to voting round
where coordinator Mr.Prabhat Guragain clearly explained the voting method. Now
it was the turn of commentators. Commentator of 1st PDS Mr.Sudarshan Kharel
commented on the speech of Miss.Sofiya Hayat Khan. He admired the speech of the
Miss.Sofiya and suggested her to keep that spirit up running. After that to was
the turn of 2nd commentator Mr.Samrat Sigdel.
He gave a depth analysis on the speech given by Mr.Manish Khatiwada.
Commentator of 3rd Pds Mr.Sashank Aryal gave a short and sweet commentary on
the speech of Mr.Rokaya.
Then it was the turn of grammarian.
Coordinator Mr.Prabhat introduced Mr.Abhash raj Subedi as the ghosty grammarian
as he fears the grammatical mistake made by him. Mr. Abhash Raj Subedi also
gave a good grammatical analysis and also rectified them. Aha counter, time
keeper presented their recording of aha, unsual pauses, repetition of words
,the records of time taken by role takers and the session respectively.
We had a Observer Miss.Sudina Shakya
who is doing MBA at Tribhuvan university expressed her before and after
experience of smart club which was positive.
Finally it was the turn of overall
critical analyst Mr.Pradeep Niraula for overall comment and to declare the
winner i.e “Speaker of the month”. Pradeep Niraula for the last time in this club appeared on the stage thanking
everyone for the co-operation and announced Mr.Manish Khatiwada as the
winner.He thanked CCT for such a beautiful topics and theme of the month. He
then appreciated the effort of all the role-takers and discipline everyone
maintained during the whole session. Finally the first session ended to welcome
everyone in the new platform-Ground of YI from next Saturday. In a nutshell the
session was informative, productive and inspiring.
After the short tea break, the second
session started. In second session we had Debate in British Parliamentary
debate format. The session was coordinated by Mr.Samrat Sigdel. Mr.Samrat gave
a short introduction on British parliamentary debate and stated that it is
different than the other type of debate where in other type of debate there are
two teams fighting against some issue but in British parliamentary debate there
are 4 teams all together and 2 teams from each side support the same motion. In
British parliamentary debate format there are Prime minister, Deputy Prime
minister, Member of Government, Government Whip, Leader of opposition, Deputy
Leader of opposition, member of opposition and opposition whip. As a role taker
we had Mr.Pradeep Niraula (Prime Minister) Sashank Aryal (Deputy Prime
Minister)Praveena Shrestha (Member of Government) Arwinas Khadka (Government
Whip) Saurav bhatta (leader of opposition) Shiksha Neupane(Deputy leader of
opposition) Asim Ansari (Member of Opposition) Gaurav Pande (Opposition
whip).We had 2 panel of judges , Mr. The
motion for the debate was “This house should go Vegeterian”. All the debaters
presented their opinions, facts, logic, data and made the debate fierce.
Coordinator Mr. Samrat added some jokes in between just to kill the boredom of
some people. And at the end judges declared the winners who were:
1st Position : Saurav Bhatta
and Shiksha Neupane
2nd Position : Asim Ansari
and Gaurav Pandey
3rd Position : Praveena
Shrestha and Arwinas Khadka
4th Position : Sashank Aryal
and Pradeep Niraula
Judges then explained why Saurav and
Shiksha were able to grab 1st position.In this way the 402nd
session of Smart Club Ended.
